We always welcomes applications from researchers interested in doing a postdoctoral research with their own independent fellowship to fund their research. Support can be provided in writing a research proposal aligning with the research interests of the group. Below you can see some postdoctoral research fellowships:
Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships Career Development Fellowships
Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowships Daphne Jackson Fellowships
Royal Society Newton International Fellowships Ramsay Fellowships
PhD opportunities
We are currently offering one fully funded three-year PhD scholarship
The research project will focus on the development of novel thermocatalytic and intensified technologies for high-purity hydrogen production, with potential applications in either steel industry decarbonisation or the upgrading of syngas derived from biomass gasification. The technology developed will incorporate in situ CO2 capture and chemical looping, aiming to reduce emissions and enable sustainable operation with minimal external energy demand.
Research activities will include the synthesis and characterisation of materials with CO2 capture, redox and catalytic functionalities, as well as their evaluation in fixed and/or fluidised bed reactor systems to provide the experimental proof-of-concept for the proposed hydrogen production pathway. A feasibility assessment of industrial implementation, including technoeconomics and life cycle assessment, will also be conducted. You can find more information regarding the topic here.
If you are interested in applying, please contact Dr Theodoros Papalas via email (t.papalas@bham.ac.uk) to show your interest and attach your CV and academic degree transcript. Suitable applicants will be invited for an informal interview to discuss the project and they will have the chance to ask questions about the position and research environment.
Funding is available for a UK Home student, but international candidates will also be considered.
