Biography
I am a final-year MEng Chemical Engineering student at University of Birmingham with a particular interest in sustainable energy technologies, critical material recovery and industrial decarbonisation. During my industrial placement at Johnson Matthey, I worked on projects investigating the application of solid-phase extraction technologies to improve iridium recovery. Through this work, I gained experience in experimental design, separation processes and analytical techniques including ICP-OES and UV-Vis spectroscopy, whilst also developing my ability to analyse complex datasets and optimise laboratory workflows.
My academic interests have been shaped by modules such as Low Carbon Technologies and by process design projects focused on sustainable engineering solutions. These experiences have strengthened my interest in the role chemical engineers play in the energy transition and in developing technologies that improve resource efficiency. I am particularly interested in combining practical engineering experience to address challenges within sustainable energy and critical material circularity.
Quirks & Facts
Outside of my degree I enjoy singing classical music, travelling, and watching Chelsea lose.
